Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo Arrival - Transfer to Yala

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by your Jetara representative who will transfer you to Yala, Sri Lanka’s most famous national park, in about 5 hours with a stop en-route for lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive and check into your wildlife lodge or safari camp. You have the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure. Enjoy a welcome dinner under the stars. Overnight near Yala National Park.

Day 2: Yala National Park – Full Day Safari

After early breakfast, go on a whole-day Jeep safari in Yala National Park, famous for its highest density of leopards. The other wildlife seen is elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, and many more birds. Pack picnic lunch in a picturesque spot. Afternoon, proceed on a game drive and capture the most spectacular landscapes and wildlife this park has to offer. In the evening, arrive back at your lodge for dinner and rest after an adventure-packed day. Overnight near Yala.

Day 3: Yala to Udawalawe

After breakfast, check out and proceed to Udawalawe National Park, which is about 2 hours away. Known for its massive elephant population, Udawalawe promises an experience to see such great beasts in close quarters. Once you arrive at your lodge, take your lunch and take some time off. This afternoon, you would go for jeep safari. You could see a few elephants, water buffalos, crocodiles, and different birds. In the evening, you will be back to the lodge for dinner and an amazing night. You will be staying one night in the close vicinity of Udawalawe.

Day 4: Udawalawe – Elephant Transit Home & Safari

Breakfast at the lodge. Visit the Elephant Transit Home, a sanctuary for orphaned elephant calves. At this sanctuary, observe the feeding of young elephants before they are returned to nature. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon: go on another safari in Udawalawe National Park, focusing on wildlife photography and spotting the elusive creatures of the wild. Dinner at your lodge. Overnight near Udawalawe.



Day 5: Udawalawe to Wilpattu

Morning after breakfast checkout from the lodge and drive to Wilpattu National Park – 3,15,000 hectares national park is the largest in Sri Lanka – approx 5-hour drive. Upon arrival, check into an ecolodge or a safari camp, followed by lunch. Later that afternoon, take some time off or go for a nature walk around the lodge to get a feel of the wilderness. Dinner at your lodge. You may take this opportunity to watch a wildlife documentary or enjoy a campfire experience. Overnight near Wilpattu.

Day 6: Full Day Safari at Wilpattu National Park

Take an early breakfast and proceed for a full-day safari at Wilpattu National Park. The landscape here has been characterized by its sand-rimmed water basins. Among the main species found in this are leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and several bird species. Have a picnic lunch amidst the wilderness and later in the day, continue your safari for capturing raw beauty and diverse wildlife of the park. Late evening back to the lodge for dinner and overnight near Wilpattu.

Day 7: Wilpattu to Sinharaja Rainforest

Have breakfast; then check out and drive to Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage and one of Sri Lanka’s most bio-diverse regions, approximately a 6-hour drive. Upon arrival, check into your eco-lodge nestled in the heart of the rainforest. Have lunch and rest. Later that evening, take a nature walk in the surroundings and see exotic birds and endemic species. Dinner at your eco-lodge. Overnight in Sinharaja.

Day 8: Sinharaja Rainforest-Bird watching & Nature walks

Early morning guided tour in the Sinharaja Rainforest, which is a home for over 160 species of birds and out of which many are endemic to Sri Lanka. Some colorful species of birds, which could be spotted in this tour, are Sri Lanka blue magpie and Sri Lanka scimitar babbler. A picnic lunch will be provided in a nice and secluding spot in the forest. PM: Nature walk through the dense foliage. en route you will see some of the rare plants, butterflies, and reptiles. In the evening return back to your eco-lodge for dinner and relaxation. Overnight stay in Sinharaja.

Day 9: Sinharaja to Colombo: Departure

After breakfast, check out and drive to Colombo this morning, a drive of around 4 hours. If your flight schedule allows, you will do some last-minute sightseeing or shopping in Colombo. A Jetara representative will assist transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward flight.
